COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH COVENANT

1 Having been brought by the Spirit of God to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and having been baptized by immersion upon my profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, I do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with you as one body in Christ.

(Romans 8:14; John 3:8; Acts 20:21; Luke 14:25-27; Matt. 28:19,20; Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 12:12,27)

2 I will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, will be slow to take offence, always ready for reconciliation, and seek to engage with others with the mind of humility and spirit of grace.

(Ephesians 4:1-3,15, 31,32; Colossians 3:12-14; Philippians 2:1-3)

3 I will walk together in brotherly love, as is fitting the members of a New Testament Church, exercising an affectionate and mutual care and watchfulness over others: including faithfully admonishing and entreating others as occasion may require and responding humbly and thoughtfully to concerns expressed toward me.

(John 13:34,35; 1 John 4:7,8,20,21; 1 Thessalonians 3:12; Romans 12:10; 15:14; Hebrews 10:25; Matthew 18:15-18)

4 I will rejoice at others’ happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear other’s burdens and sorrows, joining in intercessory prayer for my brethren in need.

(1 Corinthians 12:26; Romans 12:15; Galatians 6:2; Romans 15:1; Eph. 6:18)

5 I will prioritize the weekly scheduled gathering of the saints on the first day of the week and will be committed to regular attendance, unless providentially hindered.

(Hebrews 10:25; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2; Luke 14:1-5; James 4:13-15)

6 I will work together for the continuance of a faithful gospel ministry in this church as I support and participate in its biblical worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines as revealed in the Word of God.

(Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 14:4,12,26; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Romans 12:3-8)

7 I will honor and submit to those whom the Lord establishes as elders in the church, and will follow them as they follow Christ and minister His Word to me; not as my master, but as ones ordained to care for my soul.

(Acts 20:28; 1Thessalonians 5:12,13; Hebrews 13:17)

8 I will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

(1 Corinthians 9:7-14; 16:1-4; 2 Corinthians 9:6,7; Galatians 6:6-8; Malachi 3:8; Proverbs 3:10)

9 I will maintain personal time in the Word and prayer, and  endeavor to bring up children God is pleased to give me in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and seek the salvation of my family and friends through the ministry of the gospel and prayer as I live out a pure and loving example.

(Joshua 1:8; Ps. 1:2; Ps. 63:1; Ephesians 6:1-4; 2 Timothy 3:15; Psalm 78:1-8; Genesis 18:19; Romans 9:1-3; 10:1)

10 I will seek, by Divine aid, to live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, and remembering that, as I have been voluntarily buried by baptism and raised again from the symbolic grave, so there is on me a special obligation now to lead a new and holy life.

(Titus 2:11-15; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:4-6)

11 Should I have need to move from this place or have reason to leave the membership of this church, I have, as do my brethren, the liberty of conscience to do so and will seek as soon as possible to join myself to another church of like faith and practice.

(Acts 9:26; 15:32-34; 18:27; Acts 21:14; Romans 14:4; 16:1,2)

12 In the event of sin on my part with regard to any biblical matter, I recognize the church's biblical responsibility to take disciplinary action toward me which seeks my restoration.

(Galatians 6:1,2; Matthew 18:15-17; Romans 16:17,18; 1 Corinthians 5:1-13; 2 Cor. 2:6-11; 2 Thessalonians 3:14,15)

13 I enter into this covenant realizing my brothers and sisters have already entered into this covenant one with another and that they are responsible to me in like manner.
